Junior Reporter/Editor

coverthis.news is looking for freelance reporter to research, develop, and write full news stories on a range of topics affecting the local community. This person will need to have a passion for journalism, as well as having strong writing and editing skills. 

Job Requirements: 

• Experience writing and researching in a fast-paced online and/or print publication
• Ability to cold-call people and dig for answers
• Creative problem solver
• Assertive
• Passion for journalism — especially local news
• Ability to learn things quickly
• Ability to debate facts and take feedback
• Ability to work remotely and without supervision
• Own a computer and cell phone

Education Requirements: 

• Bachelor’s degree preferred, but current full or part time students should apply

Salary/Benefits: 

• This is part-time/contractor position (1099) ; payment will be either hourly or per story
